Safeguarding

At St. Andrew’s Church of England Primary School, our aim is to provide a safe, happy and secure environment for all our children, staff and visitors. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people in our school.

We work in partnership and have an important role in the inter-agency safeguarding arrangements, as set out by the most recent version of Working Together to Safeguard Children and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). KCSIE applies to all schools, colleges and providers who educate children up to the age of 18. As a school with early years children, we follow the most recent version of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework.

Everyone working in, or for our school, shares an objective to help keep children and young people safe by contributing to:

  • providing a safe environment for children and young people to learn and develop in our school setting, and
  • identifying children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer significant harm, and taking appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both within and outside of our school setting
  • creating a whole school approach to safeguarding through a culture of care where children are listened to, and heard, with the knowledge that their concerns and worries will be taken seriously.
