Attendance
Attendance at St. Andrew’s
At St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School, we understand that good attendance is fundamental to your child’s success and happiness at school. We are committed to working closely with parents to promote positive attendance habits from the very start of your child’s educational journey.
Our Commitment to Attendance
In line with our school vision, we strive to create a safe and happy environment where every child feels valued and inspired to be their very best. Good attendance is a vital part of this, enabling children to engage fully with their learning and with their school community.
We believe that attendance is not just about being present in the classroom but also about being part of a supportive and loving school family. Our staff are dedicated to encouraging and supporting families to maintain regular attendance, recognising that every day at school is an opportunity for growth, friendship, and learning.
Why Good Attendance Matters
- Supports Learning and Achievement: Regular attendance helps children keep up with the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their potential.
- Builds Friendships and Social Skills: Being present every day allows children to develop strong relationships with peers and staff, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
- Reflects Our Values: Attendance supports values such as endurance, courage, and respect — encouraging children to be resilient and responsible members of our school family.
How We Promote Good Attendance
- Our staff work closely with families to provide support where needed, understanding that each child’s circumstances are unique.
- We celebrate attendance successes and encourage children to take pride in their commitment to school.
- Clear communication with parents helps us to address any attendance concerns early and constructively.
- We maintain a welcoming environment where children feel safe and motivated to come to school every day.
What Parents Can Do to Help
- Ensure your child arrives on time and attends school every day, unless they are unwell.
- Inform the school promptly if your child is absent (by 9:30am on each and every day of absence), explaining the reason.
- Support your child’s routine at home to encourage positive habits around sleep, nutrition, and preparation for school.
- Engage with the school if you have any concerns about attendance or your child’s wellbeing.
